Volunteering:                     

Volunteers are an essential part of our day-to-day operations and our doors are always open to those who want to help.  We welcome volunteers 7 days a week, anytime after 9:00am.

If you can help us with our public events, mobile adoptions, fundraising, volunteering at the shelter, grooming or pet socialization, please contact the shelter at 830-981-2300.

Must be 18 years of age to volunteer.

Must follow the shelter's safety rules and guidelines.

Please bring your own food and beverages as there are no restaurants or food marts near by.

Volunteer Group Projects:

We welcome any group that has a project in mind they would like to do for us or at our facility.  Many groups in San Antonio need to earn volunteer hours, meet community requirements, earn badges or just want to have fun. Some of the buildings and landscape at our facility have been donated and done by area groups just wanting to help. Many groups organize food and supply drives to help while others help by just coming out to spend time with the animals. Please contact the shelter manager if your company, social group, school or organization would like to organize a project to help the animals.

Business sponsorship is also a great way to help and advertise.

Volunteering is good therapy, for you and the animals.

Fostering:

Foster homes are always needed for puppies, kittens, senior pets, special needs pets, pets that need on-going medical treatments or are recovering from a surgical procedure, pets that have been through a traumatic experience and pets that just need that one on one attention.  

Fostered pets are easier to find homes for and some even find their forever home in that foster home.

Our foster program is aimed toward the best interest of the pet.

All foster homes must meet some basic  requirements and any home that wishes to help with the animals that have medical needs must have previous experience. 

Fostering is very rewarding, for the animal and the foster home. Give us a call or drop us an email  if you would like to find out more about becoming a foster home. It makes a world of difference for some of our animals.
